They had a wonderful Winter Party! Thank you to Logan’s mom for organizing a great party. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers! We appreciate you!

They really enjoyed library time on Tuesday. They used their username and password to login on the laptop. They explored Santa Tracker and had a blast.

Thinking of ideas, collaborating, creating and sharing!

I want to give a “shout out” to Mr. Scott! Thank you to Mr Scott, Brennan’s dad, for organizing the Helping Hands Campaign for our classroom! We collected 236 items and enjoyed helping families in need at Concord. Thank you to all of the people who donated items! We all appreciate your help!

academic update

Word Study:
We are still working on saying letters and sounds of the alphabet as quick as possible, short vowels sounds and word segmenting. The students are doing a good job with these skills. They will have their winter Fast Bridge/ Dyslexia Screening next week. I will share the results with you at your child's conference at the end of January.

Writer's Workshop:
We have been very busy writing informational books. This week they will start writing non -fiction chapter books- wait what?? Yes, chapter books. They are so excited! They will think of a topic that they know a lot about. Come up with 3 or more chapter titles for their topic, sketch their ideas on each page, add words to each page, and draw teaching pictures. Wow! It is amazing to see the things they are doing during Writer's workshop! I can't wait to share their work with you in January.

Math:
Addition strategies is still our focus until Winter Break. They know the terms: addend, plus, sum, count on, number line, make ten, doubles fact,  and doubles plus 1. They are enjoying the math stations and using Dreambox to practice these strategies. Please keep in mind that your child may get on Dreambox as often as they like outside of school hours, but it is not required that they use Dreambox at home.

Important Dates:

12/5 Early Release Day : This Wednesday, December 5th, Concord will be having a World Holiday Celebration. We also have a Assembly with Fredbird on Friday- YAY! Wear Cardinal Gear on Friday.
