Busy Week

Thank you to all the parents for coming to conferences last night. I appreciate your support and I enjoyed telling you about your child's progress. I look forward to meeting with more parents on Wednesday night. We have a busy week this week. Tomorrow is our field trip to Powell Hall. Please make sure your child is here on time since we load the buses at 8:50am. Your child needs to dress is nice clothes tomorrow. No jeans please! If your child needs to change their clothes they can when they get back to school. Friday is our Fall Festival. We will have a very fun filled day with an assembly, buddy activities with our 4th grade buddy class, buddy lunch and the pumpkin run. Please make sure you send your child's costume with them in their backpack. They do not come to school in their costume. They will all be given the opportunity to change into their costumes before the parade. The Halloween parade will be at 1:40pm followed by the Halloween party in the classroom. Please feel free to come up to watch the parade and pop in for the party. I will be taking pictures to post on the blog for those of you who can't make it on Friday.

Check out the pictures of pajama day and our sequencing activities that we have been doing as a class. They take turns writing sentences to go with the pictures in the book. I cover up the sentences so they can remember what would make sense and they are working on their writing skills at same time.

  • We will resume sight word tests and student spotlight on the week of November 8th.
  • If you want to be a Mystery Reader send me an email and we can get it scheduled.

Update

Well, it's difficult to believe that the first quarter is over tomorrow. Time sure has gone fast so far! The students are doing a good job in all academic areas up to this point. The students watched a short video on the orphanage our school is helping in Haiti for our service learning project. We talked about many ways we can help the children in Haiti. The first way we are helping them is by bringing a dollar donation and wearing p.j.'s tomorrow. Here is a reminder about the p.j. day. Thank you in advance for your help!
