Caden's grandma was a Mystery Reader today. She read a book titled Keeping Christmas. It was written by Caden's cousin. It was such a great story. Thank you so much for reading it to the class.

Dr. Mariscal was another reader today. We earned a story for our participation in the door Decorating Contest.

Academic Update

We have been working so hard over the past month on writing Non Fiction Informational Chapter Books. The students have done such a great job using different craft moves in their writing to teach the reader.

Writing:

Their Informational Writing pieces will come home after the winter break. Please keep in mind that these writing pieces are not examples of perfect writing, however examples of writing stamina, using non fiction craft moves, and using conventions. They have worked so hard and are very excited to show you their awesome writing.

Math:
The students have been using different strategies to solve subtraction problems. They have enjoyed rotating through the math centers and enhancing their math skills. We received some new math manipulatives this week. They really enjoyed trying out the new math activities.

Science:

We are finishing Matter during Science. On Friday they experimented with air during our science time. They will write down their observations in their packet. These packets will come home on Friday.

Roman's mom was a Mystery Reader on Thursday! They loved the book titled: The Book With No Pictures!

Our Door Decoration:
The students voted for the 'theme'. They loved the idea of Santa in his sleigh flying over the town with all of his reindeer! I think they are the most precious reindeer ever! The students really enjoyed making winter pictures for the bottom of the door too. Be on the look out for the door decoration pictures on Facebook.
