So thankful...

Can you believe it's almost Thanksgiving break already? The school year is flying right by...
The kids have worked so hard these past 3 months! I am so proud and thankful every day for each of them. Please enjoy some time to slow down and relax over the break.

I want to share with all of you that Gabe's parents have donated an Osmo to our classroom. It should arrive by the beginning of December. The students are gong to love the hands on experiences that Osmo provides. Take a look at OSMO.

Academic Update

Writer's Workshop:
The students are writing informational books. They are making a shift from writing books with a 'story teller' voice to using a 'teaching voice'. They are doing a great job getting starting on their 'All About' books. Here are some things they have learned so far from the mini lessons:

Math-
We are making a shift in math as well. We are now learning subtraction strategies. We will be working on these strategies for the next few weeks and working on subtraction practice during math centers.

Yay! We have over 100 items for the Helping Hands campaign. Emma's mom brought in a treat for us to celebrate. Thank you to Emma's mom! Let's challenge ourselves to get 200 items by the end of the week! Thank you for your support!

Thank you

Thank you to all the parents for a wonderful conference week! Thank you to all the parents who came to our Fall Festival. Thank you to Gabe's mom and all the other parents who help make our party wonderful!
We appreciate all of you!!

Math Update:
We are close to wrapping up our unit on addition strategies. One of the most important math strategies is to make 10 when adding three numbers. The students are enjoying some new games to enhance fact fluency during math workshop. ( addition war, memory make 10 and doubles dash)

Don't forget about Helping Hands- bring in food items! Emma's mom will count our totals each week and will have surprise for the class when we get to 100 items! Please help families in need by sending in food items this week.

Be on the look out for Veteran's Day invitation. Please send it back to school this week. Thank you!
