Academic Update

Writer's Workshop:

We have started our new unit- Writing Reviews.
The students were so excited to use their collections today during writer's workshop. They will us these collections for the next two weeks to generate their opinion writing pieces. After they write about their opinions, we will start writing reviews and rate books, movies, restaurants, games... They are so excited for this unit!

Science:
Our plants and animals unit has begun!  We will continue learning about plants and animals until mid April. We look forward to the field trip to Missouri Botanical Gardens on April 16th. The field trip form is coming home today! Please be on the lookout for the form and return as soon as you can! Make sure to read the info on the form carefully regarding chaperones and sack lunch info. Thank you!



Math Workshop:
They are working so hard during math workshop! I am so proud of them. We started graphing this week. They had so much fun creating a tally chart of "favorites". We are using some great vocabulary words with this unit- graph, survey, and data! I hope some of them share out this info at the dinner table! I told them to "knock you socks off" with their survey and data talk! :)

Drew was in the Spotlight last week! The students really enjoyed writing about him for 

his spotlight book!

We had a wonderful time at our Luau Writing Celebration on Friday! The students really enjoyed sharing their book series with many different friends!

Abel is in the Spotlight this week. He would like everyone to wear blue tomorrow. 

The kiddos have PE tomorrow. They can wear Hawaiian clothes or accessories for the PE cruise. Make sure they wear tennis shoes. 

Parent / Teacher Conferences are on Thursday. If you need to double check your time, please refer to the Sign Up Genius from my previous email. Thank you in advance for your support!

Friday is a half day-11:50 dismissal/ no lunch service on Friday.  Please have your child wear their Blue Empower shirt on Friday. 

Be on the look out for their Box Set Book Series on Friday. They are so excited to bring them home and share their books with their family!!

Vivienne was in the Spotlight last week! We loved seeing her Show- n -Tell items!

The students had a great time learning and working with their blankets and stuffed animals last week! They are on their way to another 50 points!

Thank you to all the people who were able to attend the Mother/ Son Dance last week! It was a blast!

Thank you to James' mom for being a Mystery Reader on Thursday! The kiddos really enjoyed both books!



Dr. Moehlmann read to our class on Friday to celebrate Dr, Seuss's Birthday and Read Across America day. Thank you for reading Cat in the Hat to us!

Pinewood Derby Fun! My family and I were there to watch my son, Charlie's Pinewood Derby car race and we were very happy to see the Tiger's race as well!
