  Writer's Workshop

They are revising their writing to make sure the reader can read their book! First step- No Mixing capital and lower case letters within a word! Only capitals right now are first letter in names and the first letter at the beginning of a sentence. They are using revision strips to re write words with No Mixing! YAY!!

Math Info: 

We are using DreamBox during math stations. It is a wonderful program that the kids can access at school at at home. You can use the same QR codes that I gave you at Curriculum Night or sent home if you did not attend. Your child can access MyOn and Dreambox with these QR codes through the Clever app. The directions are below: 

Follow these steps to access myON and DreamBox from home: 

1. Download the CLEVER Instant Login app on your Apple device or go to https://clever.com/ 

2.Click on the log in as a student button located in the top right corner of the page. Instead of logging in, click on the QR code located on the log in page. 

3. Scan your child’s individual QR code Your child’s individual QR code is attached to this letter. 

4. Click on the myON app OR the DreamBox app

Last Wednesday was our first buddy day. We had a great time getting to know our buddies in Mrs. Gastreich's fourth grade class!

Thank you for participating in Hats off for Harvey!!

Weekly spelling words are coming home in your child's binder on Monday! Each student took a 'snap word' assessment. Your child's Snap Word Graph has highlighted words. These words are the words that your child spelled correctly on the assessment.As of now, each child has 1 or 2 graphs in their binder behind the Goal Setting tab. There will be more graphs as they learn how to spell the words correctly on the test and in their everyday writing. 

Please do not highlight / color or have your child highlight or color on this graph. They will take care of the ' data tracking' at school. I will help them highlight the words they spelled correctly on the test. They will choose 5 words that are not highlighted to be their words for the week. 

Their weekly words are on the white paper in their binder pocket. This paper can stay home all week as they practice writing their words. Please refer to the bottom of the white paper for spelling practice ideas. The work is not required, it is optional! They do not need to turn in spelling practice activities. The test will be on Fridays. 

Student Spotlight will officially start next week! One student a week ( 5 day week only) will be in the Spotlight. Your child will bring home a flyer about student spotlight the Friday before it is their week. Here is a picture of the flyer.

Mystery Reader

Thank you to Rory's mom for being a Mystery Reader today!  They loved the book! 

Calling all Early Release papers ASAP! Please be sure to return the Early Release paper (peach colored in the one per family folder from Meet the Teacher Night) by Friday! Our first early release day is next week and we need to know how your kiddo is going home!

Students will start bringing home spelling words next week. Please remember that we will not have spelling words if it is a 3 or 4 day week. They will take their spelling test every Friday.
